On the Added Modal Coefficients of a Rotating Submerged Cylinder Induced by a Whirling Motion—Part 2: Numerical Investigation

چکیده

Part 2 of this work presents a numerical methodology, validated using the experimental results presented in 1, to calculate added modal coefficients submerged cylinder water both when it oscillates and rotates with whirling motion. The methodology is based on computational fluid dynamic simulations that obtain forces forced vibrate mode shapes calculated acoustic-structural analysis. Then, these are processed curve-fitting algorithm extract all coefficients. Most close agreement corresponding ones, although damping was overestimated. In general, mass found be independent rotating speed frequency except for low frequencies increased. depend parameters, rest were only depended speed. As conclusion, approach has permitted study particular conditions could not experimentally tested thus broadened knowledge behavior cylinders.
